Baker Pasma Youths Release Single

Add this entry to Your Favorites [0] Comments

There is a sense of sharing that emanates through the Baker Pasma Families. For over twenty years, they have shared their friendships, their love of their Lord, and a desire to reach out and touch the lost with the music that pours from their 19 collective souls. One might even imagine that a group that numbers 19 members, able to travel and share the gospel, must know some secret that everyone might learn from.

That simple answer shines through in their latest single, “I Believe” from the CD “Shine the Light” as performed by Hailey and Taylor Pasma and Courtney and Arielle Baker. "I Believe" was released to radio on Family Music Group Compilation Volume 44, Track 6. Solid Gospel radio is now adding the song to its regular rotation reaching listeners in 88 markets around the U.S.

“The world emphasizes money, looks and power but the only thing that ultimately matters in the end is belief in Jesus and His Word,” Taylor said. “This song represents our testimony, saying that we with our parents believe the promises of God are ‘yes and amen’ through Christ.”

"All through time, people have lived expecting the promises of God to be fulfilled," Arielle said. “Abraham waited for the day when he would have a son as God promised,” she said. “Israel was promised the Messiah would come. All of these promises were fulfilled. Today we also live under the promise of the return of Jesus,” she said. “This promise is also ‘Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us’ (II Cor. 1:20b).”

Randal Baker says as he listens to the song a short quiet interlude hits him before the final chorus that reminds him of the short time until the big finale when the Lord returns to take us home with Him. “The only thing that really matters is whether you too can say ‘I Believe,’” he said.

Youth and adults alike will be able to see the group perform this song and 16 others in a new 17-song DVD "Live At Pine Grove" planned for release Oct. 1. The live project was filmed at the “Tent Church” (Pine Grove) in their home state of Michigan He said the families were invited to return three years in a row receiving the second highest record attendance of over 1,000 for the filming. The high definition DVD, produced by Moody Productions, will be available at http://www.bakerpasma.com beginning Oct. 1.

The Apostolic Boys from Dallas, TX have released their second song to radio from their Truth Is Marching On project. The song "For the Sake of the Blood" written by the group's tenor singer, Jared Pace, was recently sent out to radio by DJ Man Promotions.

Chad Hayes of SGM Radio in his CD review of the song said "This song was a powerful piece of songwritting". The song is a beautiful ballad with a pretty melody and the group sings it with a lot of feeling. DJ Man Promotions calls it a new powerful release and a must for DJ's playlist.

Joel Pace lead singer and manager for the group says, "This song is always a favorite when we sing it at concerts, Jared did a wonderful job writing this song, those that listen to it will surely be blessed. When you see how important the blood is to our salvation from the first sacrifice in the Old Testament to the cross of Calvary, it's no doubt, For the Sake of the Blood was one of the main reasons why Jesus died. Two thousand years since the blood touched the ground, and we can still rejoice in the cleansing we have found. Thank God for the cleansing power of the blood of our Savior Jesus Christ."

Gordon Mote Pays Tribute to the Late Porter Wagoner At the First AMC Honors

Add this entry to Your Favorites [0] Comments

Nashville, TN - Gordon Mote joined a stellar cast of artists in the first Academy of Country Music Honors concert held at the Musicians Hall of Fame in Nashville Wednesday, September 17th. He honored his friend, the late Porter Wagoner, by performing some of his signature songs in the tribute to the Country Music Hall of Fame member, who was awarded the Cliffie Stone Pioneer Award posthumously. Other artists appearing included LeAnn Rimes, Amy Grant, Joe Nichols and Connie Smith.

Gaither Homecoming audiences are familiar with Gordon Mote's spot-on imitation of the Wagoner, and he relayed stories, cracked jokes and sang songs in Porter Wagoner's voice, including his trademark hisses. His songs included "Satisfied Mind," "Carroll County Accident" and "Green, Green Grass of Home."

Gordon was thrilled to perform in a tribute to the late Country Music Hall of Fame member: “It was an honor to work with a legend like Porter Wagoner and to be his friend. It was especially great when he told me that I had been instrumental in his decision to accept Christ. What an unforgettable experience to be asked to tell some 'Porter stories' and to sing his music at this event.”

Among those on hand to accept their trophies during the ACM Honors ceremony were the Oak Ridge Boys, Brenda Lee, and Bill Anderson, as well as winners of the Musician of the Year awards. The evening also served to honor Dick Clark, the late Conway Twitty and publishing pioneer Fred Rose.

This is the first time these prizes have been awarded separately from the nationally televised ACM Awards in May. Unlike the high-profile performer awards the Los Angeles-based ACM presents on its network television special each May, the special honors are not annually conferred and are voted on by the Academy's board of directors, rather than the organization's general membership.

Mote’s latest CD release, Don’t Let Me Miss The Glory, includes the popular musician’s current radio single, “Wake Up Dancin',” which has been released to country, as well as Christian radio. Mote’s latest DVD, The Best of Gordon Mote was released on July 22 to retailers nationwide, and made its debut at #7 on the Billboard Music Video Chart.

The recording, produced by veteran Mercy’s Well producer Donna Beauvais, marks the trio’s first Christmas recording and featurs the group’s rich vocals, accompanied by pianist Tim Akers, who’s long list of credits includes Rascal Flatts, SHeDAISY and LeAnn Rimes.

This latest recording, December: Hymns Where The Story Began, serves as the follow-up release to the very popular Hymns: Stories For Life, Stories That Live CD, which featured the group’s first major national radio hit song, Nothing But The Blood (Still Saves The Lost). Vine Records Recording Artists Naomi and The Segos from Centerville, Georgia will be performing a free community-wide concert on Sunday September 28th at the First Baptist Church, 309 South Commerce Street in Geneva, AL starting at 6:00 PM

According to baritone vocalist and emcee Scott Spangler, "This concert is going to be a very special occasion for all of us. Recently, we learned that BAE Systems, the company that makes body armor and vehicle armor for the military protecting us in Iraq was, without warning, letting all their employees go. This has affected the entire Geneva area. When I found out that the Geneva Ministerial Association was planning on having a community dinner to minister to the families hit by this loss, I knew we had to go there and not only minister to their spirits, but give them good quality Christian entertainment to help them forget their worries. We just want to bless those folks that have lost their jobs".

SGMA Hall of Fame member and reiging First Lady of Gospel Music Naomi Sego adds, "Geneva, Alabama has always been good to the Sego Brothers and Naomi and my current group as well. My former long-time tenor singer, the late William Pippin was from Geneva and I'm looking forward to going back there and seeing old friends, singing about our Lord and if one soul comes to Christ through this, it'll be worth the trip".

Naomi and The Segos latest single, "99 1/2" is receiving heavy airplay across the country as well as on XM Satellite Radio. Their website, http://www.naomiandthesegos.org is currently being reconstructed and will be online again very soon.

Bill and Gloria Gaither were honored with the 2008 SGMG Lifetime Achievement Award on September 11, 2008 at the National Quartet Convention in Louisville,KY. Presenters from left: Ben Speer, Gaither Music Director; Les Beasley, President, NQC; Sue Dodge, Gaither Homecoming Friends artist; Ken Abraham co-author of the Bill Gaither memoir "More Than The Music;" Lisa Abraham, Spring Hill Music; Judy Nelon, SGMG President and organizer of lifetime honor and Dan Keen, Vice President of ASCAP.

Luncheon Presented During National Quartet Convention

Louisville, KY - The SGMG (Southern Gospel Music Guild) recognized Bill and Gloria Gaither with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at a special VIP reception held during the 2008 National Quartet Convention. Newly elected SGMG President, Judy Nelon presented the honor where a group of industry friends and colleagues gathered to share in the special occasion. The afternoon celebration included congratulations and numerous stories from Les Beasley, NQC Executive Vice-President Clarke Beasley, ASCAP’s Dan Keen, Ken and Lisa Abraham, Ben Speer and Sue Dodge. The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual who exhibits and upholds the SGMG Mission Statement which states, “With Jesus Christ as our cornerstone, to create a cooperative environment designed to encourage excellence, education, awareness and growth, while preserving the essence of Southern Gospel Music” over a lifetime. Bill and Gloria concluded the event with separate speeches of appreciation to the southern gospel industry and the SGMG. The celebratory afternoon of recognition was sponsored by the National Quartet Convention.

Judy Nelon, SGMG president and organizer of the lifetime honor stated, "Having the opportunity to pay tribute and recognize Bill and Gloria Gaither for their significant contributions in southern gospel music is one of my greatest honors. It is impossible to separate one from the other as both Bill and Gloria have been successful in their collaborations together as well as individuals: by composing over 700 songs, performing with The Gaither Trio, Gaither Vocal Band and for over ten years now with the phenomena recognized around the world as the Gaither Video and Television series. More than 40 years ago, they founded Gaither Music which includes publishing, copyright management, record labels, recording studios and concert tour management. Gloria has created The Gaither Family Resources; a model store for their visitors in their hometown, Alexandria, Indiana. No one on earth has done more for music than Bill and Gloria Gaither."

Gloria ended her appreciation speech by explaining she came into southern gospel music through Bill's love of the music. This Southern Gospel Music Guild honor made her feel like she is at last one of us. It was apparent that everyone agreed as they all responded with a standing ovation of appreciate and applause especially for Gloria.

Bill added, "Gloria and I are highly honored to receive this award. The Southern Gospel Music Guild has been very kind to us and we don't ever take these awards for granted. Thank you very much.”

When two young teachers met in the hallways of Alexandria Monroe High School in Alexandria, Indiana more than 40 years ago, little did they dream that they would one day be named Christian Songwriters of the Century by ASCAP, a prestigious national performing rights society.

As she writes in her book, “Because He Lives,” Gloria points out that “When Bill Gaither finally got the courage to play me a couple of gospel songs he’d written, we were already planning to be married. By then, too, I had gotten up the nerve to show him some of my poetry. Neither of us would have believed it then if someone had told us we’d spend the rest of our lives writing songs together. We both knew, though, that wherever life took us, we had each found a soul mate who could understand our passions for great ideas and eternal truths that could change lives and shape destinies.”

Bill had already been traveling the country with his brother, Danny, and sister, Mary Ann, as the Bill Gaither Trio, and it was to this smooth trio harmony that Gloria brought the new dimension of her deeply moving narratives. Before long Bill began seeking Gloria’s critique of his latest song lyric, and she gradually began writing the lyrics to the music Bill was creating. Then their songs such as “Because He Lives,” “He Touched Me,” “The King Is Coming,” and “Something About That Name,” began to find their way into church hymnals, and they are generally credited as revolutionizing church music in the ‘60s.

Since they first joined their destinies in 1963, the “First Couple of Gospel Music” has written more than 700 songs and forever changed the landscape of contemporary inspirational music. Yet to know the Gaithers is to know humility, an abiding faith in God, a commitment to family and a love of all people. They still live on the 15 acres in Alexandria they bought for $3,800 in 1964, and in between Bill’s 150 Homecoming dates and video shoots around the world and Gloria’s ever-increasing demand as an author and motivational speaker, they still find time to spend with their three children, Suzanne, Amy and Benjy and their six grandchildren. After all this time, they’re still headed in the same direction with the same set of values

Daywind Records is excited to share the impacting events happening for our artists and the fans here at the National Quartet Convention. There is a lot going on, and it’s all good!

At the beginning of the week, several artists celebrated the release of their brand new CDs with fan and media appreciation parties. Greater Vision released a CD titled, Not Alone, which features their new tenor, Jacob Kitson. The Booth Brothers introduced their debut Daywind release, Room For More. Karen Peck and New River released the follow-up to their Grammy and Dove nominated album, entitled Ephesians One. Mark Trammell Trio had a festive time introducing the CD, Always Have a Song. Everyone celebrated and had a great time eating some delicious cake.

Crabb Revival, Triumphant Quartet, and Aaron and Amanda Crabb all had feature appearances on the morning shows on FOX 41 and CBS (WLKY Ch 32), as their voices won the hearts of the early risers in the great city of Louisville, KY.

Midweek, the Booth Brothers surprised one of their greatest supporters and her NQC tour group by boarding their tour bus and having a live mini concert with the travelers as they arrived at Freedom Hall. Joyce Black, director of the First Georgia Banking Travel Club, stated afterward, “The Booth Brothers are my favorite of all time. They are the best. They were so gracious to come and do this for us!”

On Thursday, Daywind hosted their annual radio appreciation event. The artists treated radio stations representatives to a live concert and a wonderful lunch, topped off by that famous Ehlers ice cream. There were so many powerful moments throughout the morning as the songs truly touched the lives of the ones who choose to play them for the fans. It is so encouraging to know the hearts of those DJs and how much they care about bringing great music to their listeners. Radio personality Mike Stankovic of WFHB commented, “It was so moving. I felt like getting saved all over again!”

David Phelps Releases The Voice

Project encompasses well-known songs in addition to new, self-penned highlights showcasing the voice of David Phelps

Word Records’ GRAMMY® and Dove Award-winning artist, David Phelps, released his latest project The Voice this week, on September 9.

Along with three compelling new original songs, The Voice showcases Phelps amazing tenor voice as he interprets some of pop music’s most beloved classics, breathing new life into such favorites as “Unchained Melody” and “I Want to Know What Love Is” with his inimitable voice. He also serves up an impressive rendition of opera legend Luciano Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma” and a soul-stirring version of the hymn “Angel Band.” Produced with friend and collaborator Monroe Jones, The Voice has been called the project that David Phelps “was born to create.”

The album showcases an epic quality about which Phelps expresses the need to deal with more expansive themes: “God is in every part of our lives, in the love we have for each other and our wives and kids and everything. Coming to those realizations as an artist, I want to sing about all those kind of things. That’s the place that I’ve been led to on this record.” The orchestrations on the project were created by Phelps, Jones and keyboardist Jeff Roach, which added to the project’s cinematic feel and expansive qualities.

As an acclaimed solo artist and a former member of the renowned Gaither Vocal Band, Phelps has impressed audiences internationally at over 100 performances a year including appearances at Billy Graham Mission crusades and before President George W. Bush at the White House. A three-time Gospel Music Association “Male Vocalist of the Year” nominee, Phelps joined the Gaither Vocal Band in 1997, where he would be featured on over 30 projects with the multi-Platinum group and was the recipient of a GRAMMY® and Dove Award, quickly becoming recognized as one of the preeminent voices in Christian music and continues to wow crowds everywhere with his powerhouse vocals.

“I feel like that it is a natural step artistically,” Phelps states. “We started down this road on Life Is A Church and the title of that record says it all. I want to sing about my experiences in life, and they cover more than what goes on on Sunday mornings. Artistically and as a human being, I want to expand my reach and I want to make good art. That is my desire as an artist---to leave the world with something better than what I came into the world with.”

The Voice will is currently available in stores everywhere, released this week, on September 9, 2008 through Word Records.

The Pfeifers recently completed work on two brand new recordings just in time for Southern Gospel Music’s week-long event, the National Quartet Convention, which takes place this week in Louisville (September 7-13). The audio recording, Carry The Banner, features long-time members, John Pfeifer, Candy Pfeifer and Mary Jane Carter, and also introduces listeners to The Pfeifers’ newest addition, keyboardist/vocalist, Justin Hill.

Produced and arranged by producer Steve Mauldin, Carry The Banner, features 10 cuts, including two instrumental ballads. Writers who contributed to the recording include Chris Binion, Rebecca Peck, Paula Stefanovich and Karen Harding, as well as group members Candy Pfeifer and Justin Hill. The recording reflects the rich musical heritiage of a ministry that spans three generations, encompassing more than 60 years. The recording is a tribute to Pfeifer patriarch Don Pfeifer, John and Candy’s dad, who passed away in 2007. “Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease several years before his death,” Candy explains. “As we watched him experience this season, it was a very difficult season of life for us, as well. He became combative and noncompliant and had been unable to communicate for months, but as John and I were visiting with him one day he looked straight into my eyes and very clearly said ‘carry the banner’.”

Carry The Banner is complimented by the release of Then & Now, a video glimpse into the history of the Pfeifers and the banner this musical family has carried for the past three decades. The video features an intimate interview segment with present and former group members, as well as video clips of songs from the Pfeifer video library.

Attendees of the National Quartet Convention may purchase Carry The Banner and Then & Now at The Pfeifers’ Exhibit Booth in the North Wing of Louisville’s Kentucky Fair & Expo Center. The recordings may also be ordered online at http://www.pfeifers.com . Visit http://www.pfeifers.com to stay up-to-date on other exciting news from The Pfeifers.

Lynn Reagan - Returns To The Road - Open Letter

I would just like to say to everyone that has kept me in their prayers for the last four years, that I appreciate them more than you will ever know! As many of you that may or may not know, I came off the road in 2004 to care for my mother who was very ill. In July of 2005 my mother went on to be with the Lord.

After her passing, I just took some time off to deal with the loss of my mother. In April of this year, a dear friend of mine by the name of Steve Warren had asked me to help him out for a couple of weekends that he was going to be out on the road. Steve's sound man was not going to be able to make those dates and he needed someone to help him. I went out on the road with him on those dates.

After much prayer on mine and Steve's part, the doors were opened for me to start working again out on the road with Steve. I have been with his ministry since April of this year. Steve is a pastor of a church called Faith Chapel. The church has just purchased 18 acres of new ground to build a new church, and it will be located in Baxter, Tn. He also evangelizes and does concerts. He records for Sims Records out of Nashville, Tn. Roger Gaw and myself share the duties of running sound and road managing for Steve while we are out on the road ministering.

Steve and I have known each other for many years, and we have worked together in other ministries. I have always respected what Steve stood for ministry wise, and I know that he is a TRUE man of God. He is a great vocalist and minister, and I consider it an honor to be able to work with someone that has the desire and passion to see the Lord's work done the way he does.

I want to thank each and everyone that has sent up prayers for me, and I ask that you continue to pray for me as I am always needing them. Whenever we are going to be in your area, please come out and enjoy a great night of singing and preaching, and come and see me too, I would love to see all my friends again! I love you all and GOD BLESS YOU!

Lynn
